How to add grain texture to your story?

When it comes to designing stories, it’s important to have a well-defined brand image, but more importantly, one that stands out from your competitors. Your stories need to be original, as you only have 5 to 15 seconds to capture the attention of your users.

It is essential that your brand identity is visually translated in each of your publications to ensure consistency and therefore promote awareness.

Hack steps

We present you a small hack to add some spice to your story easily without breaking your head with a graphic design that is too complicated.

Here are the steps to follow to make a story with texture:

  • Step 1: In the Canva platform, enter “grainy” in the search bar.

  • Step 2: Select the grain texture of your choice and add it to your visual.

  • Step 3: Change the transparency level so that you can see your design in the back and simply put the effect on top.

  • Step 4: Save the visual and share it in your story.

Why do you need a polished brand image across all channels?

On Instagram, there are many ways to connect with your target audience. In order for people to remember you and recognize your brand at a glance, you need your brand identity to emanate across each of the micro-channels you use. This is called brand retention and it’s a critical component to achieving your goals and differentiating yourself from your competitors.

Creating thoughtful content tailored to your users’ needs is the key to success! If your publications are designed to inform, surprise, attract or satisfy your consumers, they are much more likely to perform!

The power of good branding is to quickly communicate the essence of your brand and/or company.

How to create your brand kit?

Once you have an established visual identity, it’s important to create your brand kit for your Instagram stories. This kit is fairly simple to create, as it is an extension of your color palette, photo editing or filters, style, and tone of voice.

If you don’t already have a core color palette, you need to create it!

The optimal color scheme is the one that best represents your brand, considering your unique identity. Your primary palette will be the one used in all of your images in order to have an aesthetically appealing page. Having a secondary palette is also relevant, as it will be used to accompany or complement your visuals.

Choose your brand polices wisely!

It’s helpful to have one police for all your headlines and another for your body copy. If you’re using Instagram story typography, try to choose 1 or 2 and always keep them the same to stay consistent.

Choose relevant image filters!

Just like your brand colors, the filters you use should reflect the style and essence of your brand. You can use some of the story filters that are built into the Instagram app! You can also find them on external apps such as Canva for the grainy effect, VSCO for filters or Lightroom for presets.

To stand out from your competitors, personalize your content while maintaining a unique image, true to your brand identity.
