The image email is much simpler, as it contains only text, without formatting. This type of email is compatible with most email formats regardless of the inbox (Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook…) used by the consumer. 

The HTML email allows a multitude of more complex actions regarding the design of emails. It allows you to create dynamic and unique emails that can contain call-to-action buttons, colored backgrounds, images of different formats and graphic and visual illustrations. Due to its numerous elements, HTML email can sometimes be incompatible with certain email boxes, but it still offers many advantages.

HTML should be prioritized because, with its many features, you will be able to convey your message more effectively.  Your emails will be more creative and unique which is essential to quickly capture the attention of your target consumers.

In the past, you absolutely needed some coding knowledge to be able to create HTML emails. However, today there are drag-and-drop editors that allow the creation of HTML without coding. By using pre-made and ready-to-use templates, you can create your own personalized HTML emails.

Best practices for HTML emails?

Ready to give HTML emails a try? Here are some key tips to adopt to succeed with this email marketing tactic!    

First of all, even though this email format allows you to include a multitude of dynamic elements, try to keep your message simple and structured. Putting too many illustrations, logos and images could confuse your consumers and even affect the loading time of your emails. This could result in disinterest or frustration on their part and put all your efforts to waste.  

Secondly, you need to think about the format of your email so that the customer experience is optimal on all platforms. Whether the user is on their computer or cell phone, your message must be visually appealing and aesthetically pleasing in addition to being readable. You must also take into account that each email box downloads emails differently. They may appear differently on Outlook than on Hotmail. You must therefore think about a universal structure that will allow all users to understand what you are trying to convey, regardless of their mailbox. One trick to facilitate this is to create an email that is understandable even if the images or illustrations are not well positioned or are simply missing. 

Third, to ensure that you are really taking advantage of all the benefits of HTML email, it is imperative to do multiple tests! Test your email format by sending it multiple times to all mailboxes and on different platforms to ensure that its structure is optimal!  

HTML is therefore an interesting tool to seriously consider in your email marketing strategy. Its multiple functionalities as well as the possibility of putting forward call-to-action buttons makes this type of email a powerful feature that greatly facilitates conversion. However, it is important not to overdo it in order to continue to benefit from all its advantages.
